Great Old Fashioned Chili Recipe
1-½ lbs ground beef
1-½ cups chopped onion
1 cup chopped green bell pepper
2 cloves minced garlic
3 cans (15 ounces each) rinsed, drained dark red kidney beans
2 cans (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
1 can (14 ½ ounces) diced tomatoes
2-3 teaspoon chili powder
1-2 teaspoons dry hot mustard powder
¾ teaspoon dried, crushed basil leaves
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 to 2 dried hot chili peppers (optional)
Makes 6 servings
1. Cook and stir ground beef, onion, bell pepper and garlic in large skillet until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain excess fat. Place beef mixture in slow cooker.
2. Add kidney beans, tomato sauce, tomatoes, chili powder, mustard powder, basil, black pepper and chili peppers, if desired; mix well.
3. Cover; cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH 4 to 5 hours. Sit back and enjoy!
